SANMAR TNTA Chennai City Club Tennis League Championship, one of the most popular and spirited tournaments amongst the city clubs affiliated to TNTA concluded on 19th April 2003, the TNTA Annual Day, when Mr. N. Sankar, SANMAR Group distributed the prizes to the winning teams.
The League has been conducted by TNTA for several decades and SANMAR Group has been its main sponsor since the last 12 years.
The league consisting of 7 zones in which a total of 42 teams from 24 clubs consisting of 504 players participated and 390 matches were played over a period of 3 months between January - March 2003. Among the prominent participants were current National level players like Rushmi Chakravarthy, Vinod Sridhar, Kamala Kannan from Madras Cricket Club, Rishi Sridhar, Vikram Aditya Menon, V.M. Ranjit, Nityaesh Natraj from Besant Nagar Club, Sai Jayalakshmi, Preeti Rao, Vijay Kannan, M. Jeevan Nedunchezian from Gandhi Nagar Club. A number of past National level players like Rajiv Naidu, Manoj Chandani, Krishna Kumar, T. Chandrasekar, Meenakshi Sundaram also participated.
The finals between the top two teams were played in each zone.
In the Veterans event, 12 clubs participated with 13 teams. These were divided into 4 groups and each group played its own league. The semifinal line up is as follows.
Group I Winner - MCC 'A' Bt Group II Winner - Egmore Tennis Club 2-1
Group III Winner - Madras Gymkhana Bt Group IV Winner - Gandhinagar Club 2-1
